The Oscar documentary shortlist was released yesterday, and among the fifteen titles up for consideration is “Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory”, the third film about the recently-released West Memphis 3 – a release that might well have never occurred had the filmmakers not kept a spotlight shining on the case for nearly 20 years. Other notables titles in the field include “Buck”, about horse whisperer Buck Brannaman, and “Project Nim”, about a chimpanzee raised as a human child on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in the 1970s.
