A New Ellsworth Kelly for the New Barnes Foundation?

After half a decade of recrimination, argument, and lawsuit upon lawsuit, the Barnes Foundation will quietly open its new downtown Philly location in May. (And all that breath, now wasted…) Now, the Neubauer Family Foundation has gifted the Barnes with a new sculpture by Ellsworth Kelly; directly inspired by the red maple trees that line the museum’s reflecting pool, the piece, “The Barnes Totem”, is forty feet tall and made of stainless steel. The Philadelphia Art Commission is voting on it tomorrow, most likely. (Carol Vogel, Arts Beat, The New York Times)
