After expensive renovation, New-York Historical Society is reborn

As surprising as it seems in retrospect, the New York Historical Society came extraordinarily close to shutting down operations permanently in the 1990s, following a financial meltdown. Those days are clearly gone now. The NYHS has been reinvented as a glittering, high-tech marvel, following a just-completed three year, $70 million renovation.
