Alabama Symphony to remember 9/11 with poignant symphonic songs

To memorialize the tragic events of 10 years ago next Sunday, Alabama Symphony‘s music director Justin Brown turned to one of most soul-stirring symphonies ever written.

Henryk Gorecki‘s Symphony No. 3 (“Symphony of Sorrowful Songs”) was not composed as a so-called war symphony. Nor was it meant to commemorate a particular event, political or otherwise. It was dedicated, humbly and reverently, to his wife, Jadwiga, as a tie between mother and child.
