The Austin Playhouse has been building itself a permanent home after spending a decade at Penn Field, but the new place won’t be ready until next summer. This was unacceptable to Director Don Toner, so he bought a big hut-shaped tent, spent about a month erecting it and putting up lights and so forth, and tonight, the Playhouse starts the 2011-12 season, in its new, cloth-covered, 129-seat home at 1800 1/2 Simond, with The Lion in Winter.
