Bucky Fuller’s Eco Dome Coming to Miami’s Design District

The line between crackpot and visionary is usually pretty blurry; half the time it doesn’t exist at all, which goes a long way toward explaining how R. Buckminster Fuller wound up essentially synonymous with both terms. It probably says a lot about human nature that a guy who wanted nothing more than for people to treat each other and the Earth decently wound up being called a lunatic, but no matter what you think of his philosophies, it’s hard to deny that Bucky Fuller built some pretty cool domes. Design Miami’s Craig Robins just bought and reconstructed the “Fly’s Eye Dome”; it’s on display in the Palm Lot on NE 36th St., and will eventually be installed in a pedestrian plaza in the Design district.
