So the 1988 musical version of Carrie was apparently so notoriously awful that its creators would just as soon forget that it ever existed. They’ve been pretty successful with that, too; the show played five performances and hasn’t been heard of since. The Off-Broadway MCC Theater is giving the story another go, now, having torn down much of the original’s crazed chaos and restructured it as a story about a naive high school girl.
