Cedar Lake Roars Back to Life With Five Premieres

The Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet hasn’t been seen around these parts much recently, and by “recently” we mean this year, and by “these parts” we mean: well, New York, mostly. Cedar Lake’s been on tour for awhile. But dammit! This is where the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet is from. Why have they spent this year at such a remove? Is it because the rent’s too high? It’s because the rent’s too high, isn’t it. (Damn, but the rent is high. Jimmy McMillan had a point.) Rest easily now, however, because the CLCB is back, at the Joyce, for two weeks, and they’ve brought with them five separate new pieces that have never been seen in New York before, and everything’s a little bit better now, even if the rent is way, way too high.
