CIA Cinematheque Starts New Silent Series

The Cleveland Institute of Art’s ultracool Cinematheque series is bringing back the silent era beginning this Saturday with a screening of D.W. Griffith’s Intolerance. Maybe this uptick in interest about the silent era is in some way due to the surprising success of The Artist, maybe it’s because of the fact that the modern world has gotten so noisy (and I’m talking about psychic noise, as well, text messages and the urge to compulsively check Facebook, that sort of thing), maybe it’s just coincidence. Whatever, silent films are awesome, and silent films are especially awesome on the big screen with live musical accompaniment. If you’re in Cuyahoga County, go.
