Before anyone gets hysterical over whether or not Dr. Doriane Miller should be “focusing more on being a doctor” or whatever other reactionary mumbo-jumbo might spring to mind, one can make a reasonable assumption that writing It Shoudda Been Me, Dr. Miller’s debut play, now being staged at the eta Creative Arts Foundation on the South Side, did and does not preclude Dr. Miller from continuing to practice medicine, thank you, let’s move on. When you’re a doctor, and you’ve got patients coming in with gun wounds, and they’re acting like it’s not a big deal? Yeah, you need to yell about that. (Richard Steele, NPR)
