Damien Hirst has done many things in his career, many many things. Specifically, he has suspended a shark in a tank of formaldehyde; molded a gigantic white ashtray and filled it with thousands of cigarette butts; covered a skull in platinum and diamonds; and sold an entire show at auction without involving gallery representation at all, in doing so making what might reasonably be referred to as a whole stinking lot of money.
