Dance For Diplomacy: DanceMotion USA Sends Companies Overseas

Dance for diplomacy? Sure, why not? Language, for all of its nuance, has a limited ability to cross cultural lines; there’s a rigidity inherent in the process, and, nearly always, a term or phrase that can’t be accurately translated. So DanceMotion USA – a joint effort between the State Department, the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation, Pfizer and J.P. Morgan – is taking a chance on the universal language of motion, sending a quartet of notable American dance companies to countries that, generally, miss out on the eyes and dollars of tourists, in a display of diplomatic outreach.
