Denver Gets Another Museum: Anschutz Collection to Open to Public Full-Time

This really is starting to sound like “The Age of Denver” in contemporary art (and maybe football, too, if Peyton Manning’s neck holds up); we’ve talked about the Yves St. Laurent retrospective already, but there’s also the still-new Clyfford Still Museum (which we’ve also looked at, and which wasted no time in becoming the scene of some unhinged behavior) and that thing that Christo wanted to do to the Arkansas River, which wasn’t in Denver proper but was close enough to count, and now comes word that the Anschutz Collection, which has heretofore been open only by appointment – and even then rather briefly – on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will be rebranded as the American Museum of Western Art and will offer regular, full-time hours of operation beginning in May.
