Surprisingly enough, Richard Diebenkorn’s “Ocean Park” series – the last big undertaking of his life, his final shift away from anything remotely representational into pure abstraction, and not least a sort of atmospheric evocation of the years he spent in his last, light-filled, airy studio – has never been the subject of a “comprehensive museum exhibition”, or so says ARTINFO’s Doug Harvey. Well, at long last, pains have been taken to rectify said situation, with a touring exhibition simply called “Richard Diebenkorn: the Ocean Park Series” debuting at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth last fall. Now it’s in Orange County, at the OCMA, until the end of May. (Doug Harvey, ARTINFO)
