Credit where credit is due: Disney is not just staging the safest shows possible in the theaters on its cruise ships. Specifically on its new boat, Fantasy, which features a 1300+ seat musical theater and which will spotlight Wishes in the coming months. Wishes does have brightly-colored costumes and some distinctly Disney styling, at least on the evidence so far offered, but it was written by Kirsten Childs, who gained notice a couple years back with The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin. No, Disney’s not yet staging Endgame, but this at least lends some credence to the notion that Disney might be willing to experiment a bit, at least in its floating theaters.
