Eiko + Koma, Naked by the Bay

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Relentless dance provocateurs Eiko + Koma, who have been at it for decades now, have prepared a show that is boundary-blurring, daring, slightly (?) offensive (?) – EEK THEY’RE NUDE CLOTHE THEM BY FORCE (?) – and hailed as “visionary” and “stunning” by everyone who’s seen it so far. This particular show, Fragile, is an expansion of E + K’s Naked, which they performed in 2010 as part of their multi-city commission by Minneapolis’ Walker Art Center. Basically, this performance sees them on view, naked, moving almost imperceptibly, for four hours, on the floor of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, while Kronos Quartet plays behind them.
