Rarely has an exhibition’s title been more eerily appropriate than the new one at the Birmingham Museum of Art. The Look of Love deals, fittingly, with eyes, specifically “lover’s eyes”, a form of affectionate portraiture that depicts only the eye of one’s beloved, usually set in a fairly ornate jeweled mount.
