In the spirit of the New Year – and with unfettered optimism – here’s a round of resolutions for Chicago jazz:

Upgrade the Chicago Jazz Festival. We now know that the 34th annual Chicago Jazz Festival – which will be the first under Mayor Rahm Emanuel – again will unfold in both the superb Pritzker Pavilion of Millennium Park and the dismal Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park (as well as other venues).
