Shortly after I first moved to Seattle in 1976 I saw Roman Polanski’s film The Tenant, which was showing in the 5th Avenue Theatre. This was an era when its use for live performances had all but disappeared. So musty and forlorn was the place that the setting perfectly matched the depressing mood of the movie.
