They wanted it to be the crowning triumph of the 2011-12 season, but the Kennedy Center is now down a Pal Joey after director Christopher Ashley abruptly pulled out to instead attach himself to Leap of Faith, which is apparently being rushed to Broadway as soon as possible. The reworked Pal Joey, with a book by Terrance McNally, was due to have begun June 8; at the moment, the Kander and Ebb revue First You Dream is scheduled to take its place.
