Next week, the Los Angeles Opera opens Benjamin Brittan’s curiously titled Albert Herring, which dates from 1947 and is about a timid little nebbish who shares his name with an oily fish. One might call this a “hard sell”. The L.A. Opera’s got a good feeling about this fishy little guy, though, and it’s slashing the price of admission to prove it. Anyone who bought a full-price ticket to the opera can bring two opera newbies along for $25 a head. Jump on it, though, if you’re tempted; you’ve got from the 22nd to the 24th.
