First French Stewart was slated to host the Ovation Awards. Then French Stewart pulled out to do a TV show. Then French Stewart’s TV show got postponed, and he showed up anyway to present an award and make fun of himself. Such are the hazards of the Los Angeles theater scene, which celebrated itself last night with the 22nd annual Ovation Awards. Laurie Metcalf won one, and so did Raul Esparza, and the Troubadour took Best Season.
