The Las Vegas Art Museum, a noble institution of some 60 years’ standing that fell victim to – what else? – falling donations in the wake of the collapse of the American economy and closed in February 2009, has found a new home for its collection at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas, which will host parts of the collection in at least two places, the Beam Gallery and the Marjorie Barrick Museum. LVAM retains ownership of the collection and has kept its name; should the economy ever recover, an attempt will be made to find a new, permanent home for the museum.
