Long Wharf Preps Vietnam-inspired ‘Macbeth’

New Haven’s Long Wharf Theatre is no stranger to unique and intriguing stagings, but the new production of Macbeth that it’s premiering on Wednesday looks to take the company in another, earthier direction. Set in 1969, this edition of the Scottish play uses the Vietnam war, the aftermath of said war, and the post-traumatic stress disorder of a pair of veterans as its hooks, and shifts the focus away from Lady Macbeth in favor of Banquo, yet director Eric Ting says that more than seventy percent of the original text remains. Go see if he’s telling the truth if you get a chance. (FULL ARTICLE: Donna Doherty, New Haven Register)
