Maybe ‘Carrie’ Just Wasn’t Meant to Be a Musical

Brooke Pierce went and saw it just the other day, and quite liked it, apparently, but the revived Carrie: The Musical shuffled off this coil once again on Sunday, two weeks ahead of schedule, a victim of weak ticket sales in the wake of middling reviews. Some critics and bloggers, in fact, are suggesting that Carrie is something of an impossible musical, a Lovecraftian Thing That Should Not Be, owing to its content and its themes and the fact that everyone is dead, pretty much, at the end, which apparently is not a selling point now?
