In the mood for a little Teutonic spectacle in May? Boy, does the Metropolitan Opera have you covered. Hard on the heels of its final performance of Robert Lepage’s new take on Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen in mid-May, the Met will start sending HD broadcasts of the entire Ring cycle to movie theaters around the country. This is the sort of thing that’s been happening more and more recently, but the Met is fairly confident that this is the first complete Ring cycle ever to be shown on the big screen.
