MFAH’s King Tut Exhibition Is a Money Grab

This held Tut's stomach, not his body

It’s been up since October, and only runs through April 15, but even at this late date the MFA Houston’s Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs exhibition is wrinkling noses. Among them, the Houston Press‘ Kelly Klaasmeyer, who most assuredly is not a fan of MFAH’s presentation methods for this particular exhibition. Money quote: “It’s like they tried to put together an exhibition based not around ideas, but around whatever they could get, hinging it on King Tut for maximum draw.” Oof. Bonus points for talking much smack about the exhibition’s design, which is apparently heavily dependent on fiberglass columns and doorways. (Kelly Klaasmeyer, Houston Press)
