Museum Tower’s Light is Hammering the Nasher Sculpture Center

Oh, this ain’t good: The Dallas Art District’s new Museum Tower, intended to be a gleaming symbol of, well, wealth, mostly – it’s a luxury condo, of course it is – reflects a tremendous amount of light, much of which light is beamed down on the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Dallas Museum of Art. This is kind of a problem, because it’s not going to be much of an art district for much longer if you can’t have art there. Engineers are working frantically to figure out what can be done to rectify the situation, but the tower’s light has already defeated the Nasher’s Renzo Piano-designed roof, which does not bode well for the future. And for now, the world’s largest hurricane lantern glares down on the Dallas Art District every day. (FULL ARTICLE: Tim Rogers, D Magazine)
