New Joffrey Ballet Film Is Making The Rounds

The Chicago Sun-Times calls Bob Hercules “the Ken Burns of the American dance world”, and the moniker’s got some merit, seeing as how Hercules’ last high-profile film was a documentary about the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and his new one’s an exhaustive look at the Joffrey Ballet. Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance opens nationwide in art house theatres this month; keep your eyes open, because it’s probably got one of those oddball “prestige documentary” time slots where a screening at 7 on Tuesday does not at ALL mean that it will also be shown on Wednesday at the same time.
