New York Will Now Have a Cy Twombly Museum, Too

Cy Twombly ran with Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg back in the day but never really wound up with the brand recognition that those two did. (Maybe it’s because his name wasn’t alliterative.) Who’s laughing now, though, HAH? Now Cy TWOMBLY is in charge! More to the point, Twombly, who died in 2010 after a long bout with cancer, is getting his own museum in New York City, on E. 82nd St., in a 19th-century townhouse (or Beaux Arts mansion, depending on who’s doing the telling), which is something those sad sacks Johns and Rauschenberg never got, that’s for sure.
