Notorious

The 2016-17 Arts Radio Network Theater Season of live radio plays at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts begins with Notorious on Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Abdo New River Room.

In this recreation of the suspenseful radio play, U.S. government agent T.R. Devlin recruits Alicia Huberman, the American daughter of a convicted German war criminal, as a spy in order to help bring Nazis to justice. As they begin to fall for one another, Alicia is instructed to win the affections of Alexander Sebastian, a Nazi hiding out in Brazil. When Sebastian becomes serious about his relationship with Alicia, the stakes get higher, and Devlin must watch her slip further undercover.

From The Mercury Theatre to A Prairie Home Companion, the radio play is a uniquely American art form and one of this country’s most beloved. All performances in the series take place the Abdo New River Room where, starting one hour prior to the performance and during intermission, sumptuous sandwiches, salads, snacks and desserts are available for purchase with convenience walk-up service. A full cash bar is also available.

The series brings the golden age of radio brought back to glorious life on stage, featuring some of South Florida’s finest actors and continues with a Halloween presentation of Dracula (October 28-29); holiday performances of Miracle on 34th Street (December 16-17); The Wizard of OZ (February 3-4), Strangers on a Train (March 10 -11) and a special Mother’s Day weekend production, which is yet to be announced (May 13 and 14).

The series is presented by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Arts Radio Network Theatre and WLRN. Tickets are $25. Ticketmaster is the only official ticketing service of the Broward Center, Parker Playhouse and affiliated venues. Buy tickets online at BrowardCenter.org or Ticketmaster.com; by phone at 954-462-0222; in person at Ticketmaster outlets or the Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office.
