Neil LaBute’s written a lot of naughty things over the years, you know? In the Company of Men. Your Friends and Neighbors. Pieces that touch the zeitgeist, or try to define it, at least as far as it goes for upwardly-mobile urban couples. Usually, though, they’ve been scripts, or stage plays, something like that. So this new collaboration, with photographer Gerald Slota at the Robert Berman Gallery at Bergamot Station, is a different step for Mr. LaBute: small fragments of text accompanying Slota’s photographic collages.
