It’s hard to fault Cleveland for being concerned; that town’s had a hard century. As bleak as things got, though, there was always Franz Welser-Most and the Cleveland Orchestra, carrying the torch, saying to the world “Yeah, we may have been robbed of our manufacturing base, and all of our buildings are made of sandstone, but by God we’ve got a stellar orchestra”. And now comes word that the CO is planning on adding a fourth week to its annual residency in Miami. DO NOT FREAK OUT CLEVELAND. Miami’s gain is Europe’s loss, not yours.
