Paragon Theatre Moves Into New Denver Digs, Then Closes

Denver’s Paragon Theater moved into its own, black-box theater space about a month ago after more than a decade of wandering, essentially; they shared space with the Kim Robards Dance Studio for a couple of seasons, but what’s a theater group supposed to do in a dance studio? Word was that Robards’ studio “drank up sound and limited tech possibilities“, which does not exactly seem like a welcoming environment in which to stage a theatrical production. But then! The Paragon got their own place, in the River North Arts District, and all would be well. Right? Except that renovations and additions to the building put the company right up close to the edge financially, and then the need for another bathroom sent them right over. So the Paragon’s closing, as soon as its current run of Miss Julie ends. That was nice, while it lasted. (Claire Martin, The Denver Post)
