Twelve years after founding her eponymous company, Philadelphia dance legend Jeanne Ruddy has decided to shut it down after the May 2012 season, saying that she “had done what it was that I set out to do.” The decision comes on the heels of a robust 2011 for the company, which means, at least, that this is a purely personal and artistic decision for Ruddy and not one being forced upon her by the vagaries of the economy.
