PSO Needs New Soloist, Is Soliciting Via YouTube

Starting – well, now, I guess, right now – the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is looking for a new soloist on YouTube. This is actually pretty cool. Performers on any of ten different instruments can, between now and March 22, upload a video, of up to ten minutes in length, to YouTube; votes will be cast until April 30 (democracy!) and the most popular four will win paid trips to Pittsburgh in June, which is a very nice month to be there, where they will be severely judged by PSO taskmaster Manfred Honeck, who wields a sharp baton. The winner, if there is one, will win ten grand and a spot with the PSO in the BNY Mellon Grand Classics series. (FULL ARTICLE: Joe Mandak, Associated Press)
