‘Slip/Shot,’ Set in 1962, Sure Feels Pretty Current

Philly-based playwright Jacqueline Pardue Goldfinger’s new drama Slip/Shot gets its world premiere tomorrow night at the Adrienne Theater in Rittenhouse Square, and the thing to keep remembering is that it’s set fifty years ago, in 1962, the world of JFK and the Cold War and John Glenn riding a missile into space, what should be a foreign country in a lot of ways, and yet – well, look, the play is set in Florida and deals with a white guy, a security guard, shooting a young, unarmed black guy to death, and then the local sheriff doesn’t charge the white guy with anything and closes the case.
