So, the Tony Nominations Are Here

Jim Parsons and Kristin Chenoweth were at the podium this morning at 8:30 to announce the Tony Award nominations, looking about as cheery as you’d expect for that hour, which is to say that there was no immediate evidence of foul play, no one was visibly wounded, and they both stayed awake for the whole thing. This is the mark of a true professional.

Of course, now that the announcements have been made, there’s going to be a flurry of Broadway activity between now and June 10. Some shows will increase their advertising budget; some will close; and always, endlessly, the clock will tick, tick, down the weeks to that June night, when a few dreams will come true and many more will be crushed.
