Southern Rep lost its longtime home at Canal Place not long ago; the break-up was apparently as amicable as possible under the circumstances, but it still left the company without a performance space for at least the near future, and Southern Rep’s got a long-awaited production of Streetcar Named Desire coming up in March. Handling the dilemma with characteristic aplomb, Southern Rep decided to follow the play precisely, taking inspiration from a piece of early dialogue and working out a deal to stage the play in Michalopolous Studios, 527 Elysian Fields Ave. Previews start March 21; early arrivals can take a walking tour of Streetcar neighborhoods. Cocktails are encouraged. (FULL ARTICLE: Andrew Adler, New Orleans Times-Picayune)
