Tate Modern’s Wagstaff Hired to Bring Met Into The Present

The Metropolitan Museum of Art does many, many things, and most of those things it does very, very well. It might well be the easiest place in New York to get constructively lost, for starters, and – Well, look. It’s the Met. If you’re reading this site, you’re probably already pretty aware how grand and overwhelming the Met is. Except: they’ve never really paid much attention to contemporary art, at least not since the early 1960s. Having recently poached Sheila Wagstaff from London’s Tate Modern, however, the museum looks to be expanding its focus a bit in anticipation of taking over the Whitney’s Marcel Breuer building in 2015.
