Tension at NOLA’s CAC Over Gallery Shutdown

Contemporary Art Center New Orleans has had this exhibition, Spaces, up since the end of February, essentially a collaboration between CAC and a trio of St. Claude Ave. galleries: namely, Press Street’s Antenna Gallery, The Front, and the Good Children Gallery. CAC was inspired in part by a similarly-themed – and identically-titled – exhibition that took place at MoMA in 1969 which also dealt with installation art in specific spaces, and now we see how it all ties together. What MoMA did not do forty-three years ago, however, was close the exhibit for five days so that a movie could be shot. Guess what’s happening at the CAC in two weeks?
