The 2012 Armory Show Is, Of Course, Provocative. But Is It Any Good?

Every year when it hits town, the New York art scene is ostensibly swallowed whole by the Armory Show. Which, okay. It’s huge, it’s near the water, everybody talks about it, it’s only around for a couple of days, it makes a certain kind of sense that everything else sort of peters off into the distance for ninety-six hours or so. For everyone who’s not intimately connected with the show, though, the question becomes “Okay, well, should I go see the damned thing?” Ken Johnson went and had a look around the other day, on behalf of the Times, and the initial conclusion? Big laffs. (Ken Johnson, The New York Times)
