The Gentle Chaos of the World Choir Games Will Be in Cincinnati Soon

The World Choir Games are still a fairly new competition, only begun in 2000, and, quite honestly, less a competition than a chance for choirs from all over the world to get together and lift their voices in cheer and harmony and also, you know, hang out together and maybe have a beer and some chili, too, because one should always try the regional delicacies wherever one travels to, unless the delicacy is lutefisk. Please do not eat the lutefisk. So, see, this is going to be fun, eventually, except what’s going on now is that the Games start in exactly a month, and there is still a whole lot of stuff that the Queen City has to take care of before it can start welcoming thousands and thousands of choristers onto its streets and into its parks, and also it’s an election year, but hey: what with the Olympics and everything else that’s going on this summer, maybe we should just embrace the crowds and the chaos, because these sorts of things don’t happen every day, and we’ll be sad when they’re gone.
