Though It’s Cold, Rest Assured: The Berkshires Are Still Open For Business

Most people probably associate the Berkshires with summer, and that makes sense. Summer is the season of Tanglewood, after all, and lush, verdant carpets of green, and picnic baskets full of French bread and cheese and chilled white wine, and candlelight beneath the stars. (I just made myself sad. Damn.) It’s worth keeping in mind, though, if you’re inclined to want to quit town for awhile, that summer’s end doesn’t mean that the Berkshires get sealed up and packed away for six months; there are still tons of things going on at Mass MoCA, the Clark Institute and Ventfort Hall, among others, and remember, during the off-season, there are no silly, shrill crowds to put up with.
