Tokyo String Quartet returns for 26th gig for Chamber Music Society of Detroit

The numbers don’t lie: Detroit loves the Tokyo String Quartet, one of the great brand names in chamber music for decades. The ensemble’s concert this weekend for the Chamber Music Society of Detroit will be its 26th appearance on the series, a record for the society. It also marks an important transition: Founding violist Kazuhide Isomura and second violinist Kiduei Ikeda, who joined in 1974, are both retiring in 2013.
