Twelfth Night

NEW CITY PLAYERS presents Shakespeare’s Classic Comedy Twelfth Night. Twelfth Night marks the second production of New City Players’ second season (followed byTrue West running August 10-27 also at The Vanguard.

Viola loves Orsino. Orsino loves Olivia. Olivia loves the disguised Viola. A classic love triangle padded by a hilarious subplot to make a fool of the pompous Malvolio will prove to be a night of theatre that is engaging and hilarious. Even theatre goers without much Shakespeare under their belt may recognize the plot from movies such as the 1985, Just One of the Guys, directed by Lisa Gottlieb, and the 2006 movie starring Amanda Bynes, She’s the Man

Incorporating an old-world Florida/Caribbean aesthetic, New City Players’ production of Twelfth Night will be directed by Jessica Schulte. It will star Reggie Campbell, Johnny Contini, Erica Rose Dade, Robert Fritz, Johnbarry Green, Ernesto Gonzalez, Ryan Maloney, Bree-Anna Obst, Elizabeth Price, Kevin Reilley, Nick Valdes, and Jenna VanWeelden.

“In a quest for identity, this titillating plot presents a timeless depiction of our extraordinary ability to make ourselves fools for love,” says director Jessica Schulte. “I hope this play will offer a much-needed dose of poetic justice and an even greater does of laughter.”

New City Players is a not-for-profit, ensemble theatre company in Fort Lauderdale. They exist to stage exceptional classic and contemporary theatre that provides an emotional and transformative experience for every audience member.

This production will be held at The Vanguard (1501 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale 33316). Performances run July 6-23 (Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm; Sundays at 2pm). Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $20 for students and can be purchased online at or by calling (954)-650-5938.
