Las Vegas is due to open its new Smith Center for the Performing Arts in a little over six weeks, and this has caused some murmurings of uncertainty over whether or not the larger casinos will find it viable to continue staging Broadway titles. All indications at the present, however, are that the practice will continue unabated; the Plaza’s planning a community-based production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas for March, and rumors about potential casino stagings of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Rock of Ages and possibly Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark abound.
