Ocean Without a Shore is legendary video artist Bill Viola’s 90-minute looping meditation on – well, death, essentially, death and crossing over and this world and the next and possibilities and sadness and serenity. It also looks incredibly cool, and now the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts has one of only three copies in the world on permanent display, in a gallery that’s designed to replicate the video’s original installation in a 15th century church in Venice.
