The City of Aventura presents hilarity on wheels as the acclaimed Slow Burn Theatre Company stages the roller skating musical with ‘70s pop hits, Xanadu, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center from Thursday, February 2 – Sunday, February 5.

Based on the 1980s cult movie classic, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, this hilarious musical features the chart-topping songs from the film composed by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne and John Farrar including: “Magic,” “Suddenly,” “I’m Alive,” “Evil Woman,” “All Over the World” and, of course, “Xanadu.” The far-out and funny tale which includes a beautiful Greek muse, a struggling artist and a roller disco is about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you.

The cast features Lindsey Corey, Rick Pena, Larry Buzzeo, Lissa Grossman, Sharyn Peoples, Conor Walton, Elijah Word, Sabrina Gore and Emily Tarallo. Music director Manny Schvartzman, sound designer Rich Szczublewski, lighting designer Thomas Shorrock, set designer Sean McClelland and costume designer Rick Pena are the creative team that brings back the sounds and fashions of the era. 

Xanadu will also be presented at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts February 23-March 5. Performances are Thursday-Saturday, February 2-4 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, February 5 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $40 and $45. Ticketmaster is the only official ticketing service of the Broward Center, Aventura Arts & Cultural Center and affiliated venues.
