In San Diego right now, specifically the neighborhood of Clairemont, a minor beautification movement is underway. The brainchild of a guy known only as Bryan, who calls himself Knitting Guy, what’s going on here is, basically, guerrilla community outreach, in the form of yarn-bombing, which involves wrapping things – usually bland, industrial things like street signs and whatnot – in colorful knitted accoutrements. Because signposts are ugly, and leaves are not. (Okay, it’s a little cutesy. Big deal.) (Enrique Limon, San Diego CityBeat)
